On April 9th 2011 the Grapplers Quest Beast of the East took place in Asbury Park, NJ. The Grapplers Quest is one of the biggest grappling tournaments in the country. We are proud to announce the following GGA place winners!
- Kristel Roxas - 2nd in Women’s Advanced No-Gi Division
- John Niedrich – 1st in Mens Blue Belt Gi Division
- Chris Ulbricht - 1st in Mens Advanced No-Gi Division

While we have a great time in class during our training sessions, getting great workouts, and learning helpful techniques and concepts we also come together outside of the facility and enjoy a fun game of paintball and more every once in a while too!

This past Monday we had our first annual Team Day with about 60 people all coming together on one night to celebrate being different then the rest of the world by doing something that makes us happy and brings people together. We had our first ever Grappley’s Awards ceremonies along with a ton of stripe promotions and 7 brand new belt promotions. Can’t wait for the next one!!!

We would like to give a huge congratulations to Mr. Danilo Bueno for taking home DOUBLE GOLD at the Goodfight Grappling Tournament on February 19th. Danilo won gold in both his weight class and the absolute open weight class. Keep up the great work Danilo!!

Please follow the New Years Schedule for this weekend. There WILL be morning classes on Friday morning but no evening fitness classes for 12/31/10. There WILL NOT be any classes on Saturday 1/1/11. We WILL have open mat training (BJJ and Muay Thai) for those who want to get some training in this weekend. Open mat will be at 11:30 am on Sunday 1/2/11. HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!.

There are classes tonight at the Grapplers Guide Academy…Please be careful driving. Some roads are good, some are bad, and some are really bad.
Also when you enter the parking lot as of now you will have to enter from the front entrance of RT. 35 as the other entrances are not open yet. Be careful when you enter the lot as there is still a collection of snow.

We would like to give a huge shout to all of the Grapplers Guide competitors who competed at the Grapplers Quest in Asbury Park on Saturday December 4th 2010. We are very proud of everyone who stepped up and tested themselves. Here are some highlights:

The Grapplers Guide Academy will be having our annual holiday part on December 11th 2010. Please come and celebrate the holiday season with us. We will enjoy a lot of food and fun.
If you are planning on bringing anything please let us know at the academy. We will have the 120″ big screen going with video games, bjj, and mma fights playing too along with a lot of other activities.
The festivities will be starting at 7:30 and will go on until we can’t go anymore

Well it was another great day with another well deserved promotion. Today David “Double D” Trapanese was promoted to the rank of Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Dave has been training in BJJ since 2004 and while he had a little bit of break in training he hasn’t missed a beat. His attitude and personality shines everywhere he goes. He is truly an important part of our family! Super proud!

Jim Lepping decided to step up and compete in his first Brown Belt tournament and we are very proud to say that he did very well, placing 2nd in the No-Gi Pan Ams that were on October 2nd 2010 in New York City. Jim is one of our dedicated assistant instructors and we are extremely happy that he is apart of our family!
