Hey, Dave here the forums look kinda vacant lately so I figured i'd post something. Just a basic statement that most of us are all aware of. Gracie Jiu Jitsu DOES work in MMA. Do not believe otherwise. Watch Royce gracie in his early career. He hunted down opponents 3 times his body weight like a cheetah chasing prey. It's really quite amazing what you can do with this art. Of course, I am only half a year into my training now but I feel I can easily see the dominance of the Gracie system. Of course, we cannot be blinded. GJJ has it's weaknesses if used incorrectly. I know this first hand.. haha. But in street situations, I have found 0% flaws. Submissions come almost instantly during self defense. Can't remember the last time I was literally jumped by a sweaty huge guy but I know from training with my bulky heavyweight lifting friends that strength is far too over rated in a street situation. In fact, the larger the opponent the easier it can be, so i've found. Leverage is the science of this art as i've learned. So thank you all from the grapplers guide for your help.
One last thing though, i'm looking for a dedicated training partner for extra practice during the days we don't have classes. I often find myself at home scrambling for a training partner to practice techniques with but to no avail. So just throwing this ad out there i'm very easy to work with I can just be bit shy but i'm willing to travel for this. So if anyone has some free time and wants to partner up somewhere and roll a bit or maybe brush up on some techniques you can reach me at my cell phone 732-620-3237. (texts are fine).
Good Luck!
