Your team is waiting for you at Jiu-Jitsu! | BJJ in Red Bank NJ

One thing that I always try to get across to GSBJJ students is that even when THEY don’t come to class, everyone else is still there and wondering where they are. Everyone has someone who looks forward to seeing them in class. The truth is that everybody has something to contribute and if you don’t show up – your presence is missed.

Unfortunately, sometimes people have a “out of sight, out of mind” mentality about their training partners when they skip Jiu-Jitsu for other things. Even if you don’t show up to class, everyone else will still be training and improving regardless. However, your training partners CARE about you and want you to be working and improving with them!

If you are a higher belt, your presence in class is important because you help guide all of the newer students as well as make sure there are challenging training partners for the other higher belts. Purple, brown, and black belts are mentors for white/blue belts and motivate new students by representing the results of what an Jiu-Jitsu academy’s program can produce.

If you are a big guy, I guarantee there are other big guys at the gym that are waiting for a partner around their size to train with.

If you are a WHITE BELT, your attendance is HUGE because you are literally the future of your Jiu-Jitsu school. Your instructor and the higher belts need enthusiastic white belts to teach so that one day they can become the next blue, purple, brown, and black belts!

If you are a woman, other women look forward to having you part of the camaraderie that is women’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!

A positive attitude is also something that ANYONE can contribute to their Jiu-Jitsu academy! If you are someone who gives their absolute all in training, encourages others, and shows discipline in your training – your presence on the mats encourages others to do the same!

There are literally thousands of other examples because everyone has something to contribute to their Jiu-Jitsu school whether it’s your sense of humor, competition mindset, or even something purely technical like your sick De La Riva guard. I promise you that everyone has something to offer their Jiu-Jitsu team.

This also applies to people who have not yet started their Jiu-Jitsu journey. I know that there are people out there that have been thinking about trying Jiu-Jitsu for a while. Even if you are brand new, if you have a positive attitude and work hard – you can soon become an important member of the GSBJJ team.

Why GSBJJ is the Best Women’s BJJ Program In Central Jersey! BJJ in Red Bank NJ

Why GSBJJ is the Best Women’s BJJ Program In Central Jersey!

At GSBJJ we are extremely proud of the variety of different students we have on the mats. Old, young, experienced, brand new, men, and women – everyone is a respected member of our team.

There are a many reasons why GSBJJ is the BEST women’s BJJ program in Central Jersey.

Reason 1: An Academy Built on Family and Respect!

Due to the success of our kids program we have many families that call GSBJJ their martial arts home. Because of this the culture of our school is positive, non-intimidating, and welcoming to everyone. Some of the rules have in place include:

  • Students must wear a rashguard under their uniforms at all times (so no hairy sweaty chests in your face).
  • No cursing or foul language on the mats.
  • Strict health and Hygiene policies that make sure we do everything necessary to keep everyone safe and clean
  • Students are not permitted to walk around the gym shirtless.
  • An “ask your partner first” policy about sparring with kneebars and toeholds.
  • And strict supervision from instructors.

Aside from the rules we also make sure that all of our students know how to train with someone who may be smaller or less experienced than them. We have created a school culture where even our students are enthusiastic about working with new people to help them reach their goals!

Reason 2: Great Reviews From Our Female Students!

Everyone is always super friendly and welcoming, the classes and techniques are top notch, and the students are great to roll and train with. As a woman, visiting gyms alone can be intimidating (what if everyone here is super agro and I get hurt?), but I have not had anything but great experiences here. Highly recommend! – Beverly Huang

They break down the smallest aspects of each technique and point out the small details that make each move work the most effectively….I highly recommend Garden State BJJ to anyone in Central New Jersey!” – Ayanthi Gunawardnana

“It is a very friendly environment with experienced coaches. Always have fun training there!” – Natalia Grishina

“Garden State BJJ is a fantastic place to train. This academy can address many needs, whether it’s to get in shape, learn self defense or compete. I highly recommend trying out a class. The instructors and staff are awesome.” – Kristine Brink

Reason 3: Our Women Do Great in Competition As Well!

We have had many of our female students (both kids and adults) able to take home GOLD from various BJJ competitions! The secret is that we have a positive environment that offers the support of a team to allow our students to train to their fullest potential!
We NEVER push or force our students to compete, but if they want to do it, they know that the have the training necessary to be prepared to win.

One of students, Melissa Gardner, is also preparing for an MMA fight next month! Melissa is an experienced kickboxer and has been working with GSBJJ to further develop her ground game to prepare to compete in MMA. Melissa has already had success in both grappling and kickboxing events, so we are excited to see her put everything together in MMA!

Reason 4: Coaches Committed To Giving You The Best Martial Arts Experience and Helping You Reach Your Goals

The Garden State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy coaching staff is commited to heling YOU reach your goals. Whether you come to us to get in shape, learn self defense, compete, or just to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – we are going to do our absolute best to help you every step of the way.

We strive to to be open and approachable so if you have questions or concerns, you can feel comfortable talking to us after class or giving us a call. Furthermore, we want to do OUR best to make you YOUR best. This means that it is a common site to see GSBJJ instructors answering additional technique questions after class or running from mat to mat to support our team at competitions.

We invite you to see what GSBJJ is all about!

GSBJJ Star Wars Night ! | Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Middletown NJ

Star Wars Night, also known as Parents Night Out, was a great success! The students got to enjoy spending time together outside of their structured routine, and parents received a well needed night to enjoy their free time as well. The night started off strong with a challenging yet fun obstacle course set up by Coach Maureen. At first, the obstacle course seemed almost impossible when everyone failed their first attempt. To no surprise, the students (and few of their friends) at GSBJJ overcame this defeat, with will-power, strategy and of course, their newly-found Jedi Force!
Next, the kids broke up into 2 groups for Jedi Training. While half the group played pin the lightsaber on Yoda, the other half learned how to use their lightsabers. Thankfully, the lightsabers were made of foam for the safety of everyone in the building! Lightsaber training included three different games to keep the kids moving.
After the games, we joined forces to watch a movie on the projector screen.
Pizza was delivered at the perfect time to feed our hungry Jedi knights while they watched the movie.
After the movie all the young Jedi knights were once again ready to test their lightsaber skills against a new opponent – a Darth Vader Pinata! With the few minutes we had left before the Jedis returned home we played a familiar game of Jedi Gaga, and discussed our favorite parts of the night. All in all, Star Wars Night, and Parents Night Out, was a great time for both the GSBJJ kids and the parents that got to drop them off. Thank you to Coach Rob, Coach Barry, Coach Evan, Coach Maureen, DJ Jimmy, and Coach Julian for helping out! Make sure enter your information to find out more information about our kids programs and special events!
