GSBJJ Star Wars Night ! | Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Middletown NJ

Star Wars Night, also known as Parents Night Out, was a great success! The students got to enjoy spending time together outside of their structured routine, and parents received a well needed night to enjoy their free time as well. The night started off strong with a challenging yet fun obstacle course set up by Coach Maureen. At first, the obstacle course seemed almost impossible when everyone failed their first attempt. To no surprise, the students (and few of their friends) at GSBJJ overcame this defeat, with will-power, strategy and of course, their newly-found Jedi Force!
Next, the kids broke up into 2 groups for Jedi Training. While half the group played pin the lightsaber on Yoda, the other half learned how to use their lightsabers. Thankfully, the lightsabers were made of foam for the safety of everyone in the building! Lightsaber training included three different games to keep the kids moving.
After the games, we joined forces to watch a movie on the projector screen.
Pizza was delivered at the perfect time to feed our hungry Jedi knights while they watched the movie.
After the movie all the young Jedi knights were once again ready to test their lightsaber skills against a new opponent – a Darth Vader Pinata! With the few minutes we had left before the Jedis returned home we played a familiar game of Jedi Gaga, and discussed our favorite parts of the night. All in all, Star Wars Night, and Parents Night Out, was a great time for both the GSBJJ kids and the parents that got to drop them off. Thank you to Coach Rob, Coach Barry, Coach Evan, Coach Maureen, DJ Jimmy, and Coach Julian for helping out! Make sure enter your information to find out more information about our kids programs and special events!

We welcome you whether you’re just visiting for the day, a couple weeks, or supplementing your current training by training with us if you’re at another academy already. At Garden State BJJ we have a lot to offer including multiple brown and black belts on the mats, Gi and No-Gi classes, a schedule that features morning and evening classes, and much much more!

At Garden State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, we have many people that come visit us for a day or two due to our close proximity to the attractions of the Jersey Shore. We are minutes away from the shops and restaurants of downtown Red Bank, Long Branch, Pier Village, historic Asbury Park, Sandy Hook beach, the trails Hartshorne Woods, and more. In addition, we also have shower facilities so you can continue your day trip after training while staying nice and clean! Call us to find out our mat fees to get some training in on your next trip down the shore.

We also have people that train with us for just a few days or weeks. Sometimes due to work or other situations, people are only in the area for a couple weeks or months, and we are happy to have these grapplers call GSBJJ home while they’re here! We work with people depending on their situation to come up with a training option that works for them.

Finally, we have some students that supplement their training at another school by training at GSBJJ on a regular basis too. We are a politics free gym and welcome students from all schools and affiliations! There are many reasons why people from other schools choose to train with us including:

• Our packed schedule with 9 Gi classes, 3 No-Gi classes, and 5 Open Mat sessions that allow BJJ students to get more training each week and to improve faster.
• The ability to train somewhere that you don’t work. Many martial arts school owners and instructors like to come to GSBJJ to enjoy training and developing their own skill without the responsibility having to watch or instruct. Furthermore, we welcome people from all schools and affiliations so owners and instructors can feel welcome coming to GSBJJ.
• Our world class training. Some of our regular visitors are the best people in their academies or active competitors so they choose to come to GSBJJ to get challenging sparring sessions with our numerous purple, brown, and black belts.
• Many Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners have free time during the day and choose to take advantage of our 6 morning classes in addition to their current training schedule.

We hope you visit us at Garden State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy! For information on mat fees and schedules please fill out one of the forms on this site or give us a call at (908) 433-3025. Garden State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy Celebrates 3rd Year With Annual Team Day BBQ | Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu near Middletown NJ

This past weekend Garden State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy hosted its third annual Team Day BBQ at Holmdel Park. There was no better way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon then with some amazing people. Our GSBJJ family came with tons of food and activities to share. There were empanadas, pasta salads, appetizers and desserts and of course some delicious barbecue. Kids and adults took part in summer backyard games like corn hole, kan jam, ladder ball. There was even a wiffle ball game. Chris presented many of our team members with awards depicting their personalities and hard work. New to the team day this year was our raffle. Items like an Inverted Gear Gi, a spa day and gift cards for various local restaurants were bid on and all proceeds were donated to the American Red Cross. Members old and new came out to make Sunday a terrific day. There were even some brand new editions to our GSBJJ family this year with lots of new babies making their debut. With over 100 people of all ages spanning our picnic area, this was the biggest and best turnout so far!
